Former AEW World Trios Champion Buddy Matthews caused concern among fans during the June 15 edition of “AEW Collision” when he appeared to suffer a knee injury during the House of Black’s main event match against the Bang Bang Gang. Despite looking to be in serious pain following a meteora, Matthews was later revealed to be fine after the match.
Matthews Written Off TV for Travel Reasons
Following the match, Matthews was seen laid out backstage with The Patriarchy standing over him, leading to speculation that he was being written off TV. However, reports from PWInsider Elite confirmed that Matthews was actually okay and his selling was part of the storyline. The decision to write him off TV was due to his plans to travel back to Australia with his fiance, WWE star Rhea Ripley, for a family event. It is currently unknown when Matthews will make his return to AEW.
